This policy outlines the 13 steps we take to evaluate and score online casinos, from licensing and game selection to customer support and withdrawal times.

Step 1: Gambling License and Ownership

Usually mentioned in the footer of a casino site, we take note of its gambling license and the company or companies that operate the site.

The gambling license plays a crucial role when it comes to trust and reliability. Depending on the license type, we ensure it’s valid and legit in the following way:

  • Curacao License: should have a clickable verification seal on the casino website.
  • Anjouan License: should have a clickable verification seal on the casino website.
  • MGA License: check that the casino is listed in the MGA license register.
  • UKGC License: check that the casino is listed in the UKGC license register.
  • Kahnawake License: check that the casino is listed as a permit holder.

As for ownership, this helps us identify what other casinos the company is running. This can be particularly useful when reviewing new casino sites.

For instance, if a previous casino owned by the same company was dishonest, this is invaluable information that we can share with players.

Step 2: Accepted and Restricted Countries

Casinos usually have a long list of accepted and restricted countries. We focus only on checking restrictions for:

Step 3: Fiat and Cryptocurrencies Supported

With most casinos, we find which currencies are supported via the sign-up form. This normally lets you choose the currency in which you want your account created. However, sometimes, the option is not there. Not a problem.

With every casino we review, we create a fake account for every country covered in Step 2. This is required to check various things and also allows us to get a better understanding of which currencies are available.

When you browse around our website and see us list casinos for specific countries, we normally don’t include sites that don’t have the local currency available even if residents of that country are allowed to sign up.

Step 4: Available Payment Methods

Some casinos have a page listing all their available payment methods.

However, from experience, we have learned that the information on such pages is usually wrong.

By creating casino accounts for every country covered in Step 2, we get an accurate understanding of which payment methods are available.

Step 5: Payment Limits and Fees

Using the accounts we have created, we check what the minimum deposit and withdrawal limit is for each available payment method at the casino. We also take note of any fees being mentioned in the cashier.

However, this alone is not enough to get the full picture.

Casinos’ terms and conditions often include daily, weekly, and monthly withdrawal limits, and in some cases, fees that apply to deposits and withdrawals.

Step 6: Withdrawal Processing Times

The withdrawal processing time is how long it takes for the casino to approve a withdrawal request and send you the money.

It is not to be confused by how long it takes to receive the money as transaction times on individual payment methods may also apply. These are out of the casino’s control.

To assess what the average withdrawal processing time is, we:

  • Ask customer support and/or a casino manager.
  • Check what is stated on the casino’s website (in T&C, FAQ, and payment pages).
  • Make at least one test withdrawal ourselves.

  • Make another deposit if we’re unlucky and lose.
  • Go through KYC verification as a precaution.
  • Request a withdrawal of our balance.

Scoring Methodology

A casino can be given a score of 1 – 5 stars on each of these factors.

Our benchmark for a 5-star rating is based on our experience of reviewing hundreds of online casinos for over a decade.

While World Wide Gamblers isn’t that new of a site, we as a team have been in the gambling industry for a long time, reviewing gambling sites.

A 5-star rating doesn’t necessarily mean perfection as perfection is not only difficult to define, but may also be impossible to come across.

However, it does mean that the casino is among the best, such as the top 5%, with little to remark on, or sometimes nothing to remark on at all. The experience is simply exceptional.

Those casinos that score at least two 5 stars and two 4 stars have a chance of being listed as one of the top 10 casinos we recommend.

To understand our scoring better, we have created examples that would result in a casino receiving a 5-star rating on all its factors. We have also mentioned a few pointers for each factor that could reduce its score.

Note

How much a casino’s score is lowered is an estimation we make based on how far off the casino is from perfection.

Some factors weigh more than others as they have a greater impact on the overall quality of the gambling experience.

For instance, customer support being rude and unhelpful is much worse than customer support only being available 12 hours per day.

Reputation & Trust

  • The casino holds a reputable gambling license which we have verified to be legit.
  • Nothing suspicious, odd, or dishonest is mentioned in the casino’s terms and conditions.
  • There are plenty of positive player reviews of the casino on platforms such as Trustpilot.
  • Negative player reviews (that are reasonable) are few in number or don’t exist.
  • Testing the casino ourselves, we have not experienced any issues.

While this would give the casino a 5-star rating, there are many things that could lower its score.

For instance, if it doesn’t have a gambling license, that would be a big red flag that would negatively impact its score.

If player reviews are overwhelmingly negative or the casino has dishonest terms and conditions, that would lower it as well.

An example of a term we deem dishonest is a casino imposing a maximum limit on how much you can win per game round or per day.

Game Selection

  • The casino offers over 8,000 slots from all or nearly all of the best game providers.
  • It offers live casino platforms by Evolution Gaming, Playtech, and Pragmatic Play.
  • All types of games are available, including jackpot games, crash games, virtual bingo, video poker, scratchcards, and virtual sports.

In line with step 8 and step 9 of our review process, a casino like this would receive 5 stars for its game selection.

Now, if Playtech wasn’t available as a live casino provider or the casino didn’t have any progressive jackpot games, the score would likely be lowered to a 4.

If categorization was done poorly, we might further lower the score to 3.

Bonus Value

  • Several casino bonuses and promotions are offered every week.
  • The offers appeal to both low-stakes players and high-rollers.
  • The bonuses have fair wagering requirements of 35x (bonus).
  • The time to wager each bonus is reasonable, such as 30 days.
  • Reasonable or no cashout limits apply to the bonuses.
  • The bonuses are non-sticky, allowing players to cancel them and cash out their real-money winnings.

Bonuses are the most complicated to score as they have the most individual factors that affect their values.

However, the above would give a casino 5 stars for its bonus value.

If wagering requirements were 60x, but the casino offered daily bonuses, the score might be 4 instead.

The same wagering requirements of 60x, but only a few promotions available may result in a score of 3 or even 2.

Customer Support

  • Live chat support is available all around the clock.
  • Connecting to an agent is fast and agents reply quickly.
  • The agents have a friendly and service-minded approach.
  • The agents are knowledgeable about the casino.
  • Queries are efficiently solved.

This is a perfect customer support experience in which the casino would receive 5 stars.

In line with step 11 of our review process, an agent giving us the wrong answer to a question would likely lower the score.

While we don’t need agents to be exceptionally friendly, a nonchalant and careless agent would lower the score as well.
